Luton – Former Hatter Secures Championship Deal

Scouring the media last night, waiting for the England v Czech Republic fixture to commence, something caught my eye.

As confirmed by The BBC, somebody who divided opinion, during his time at Kenilworth Road, has found himself another Championship club to play for.

After making 28 appearances and scoring just the 1 goal for the Hatters, in the 2019/2020 season, Izzy Brown has signed for Preston North End.

During his time at Luton, Brown showed brief glimpses of the skills that persuaded Chelsea to take a punt on him and signing him from West Bromwich Albion back in 2013.

But ironically, Brown only made one senior appearance for the West London side, in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of his former club.

Last season, Brown was loaned, by Chelsea, to Sheffield Wednesday where he made just 5 starts and a further 16 from the bench with, as was the case at Luton, injuries scuppering a consistent run of games.

Still only 24-years-of-age, Brown could be in the last chance saloon and although opinion was divided on his stint at Kenilworth Road, it will be interesting to see if he can play regularly and stave off those troublesome injuries that caused the Hatters support to berate him.

It will certainly be interesting to see how he plays, if fit, in the two Championship fixtures against Luton in the 2021 / 2022 season.
