In the ninth of our series, covering the clubs listed below and how I believe the promotion shake up will end, it is time to feature Coventry City.
• AFC Bournemouth
• Luton Town
• Huddersfield Town
• Sheffield United
• Blackburn Rovers
• Middlesbrough
• Queens Park Rangers
• Nottingham Forest
• Millwall
• Coventry
• West Bromwich Albion
Yesterday we covered – Millwall – and with Luton Town being left to last, let’s look how the season, I believe, will pan out for Coventry City, who currently sit in 11th place in the Championship table.
Coventry have played 38 games, the same as Luton and have accumulated 55 points, 8 fewer than Luton.
With 8 games left, Coventry City enter the final phase of the season with a record, in their last 5 games reading – LLWLD – meaning they have accumulated just 4 points from the last 15 available.
Their final 8 games are as thus:
• Blackburn Rovers (h)
• Nottingham Forest (a)
• Fulham (a)
• Birmingham City (a)
• Bournemouth (h)
• West Bromwich Albion (a)
• Huddersfield Town (h)
• Stoke City (a)
3 home games and 5 away games with 2 of those 6 games coming against promotion rivals.
With 24 points available to play for, my view is that Coventry City will earn a further 8 points, 2 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses, this season, leaving them with a total of 63 points, but will that be enough to clinch a play-off place, I seriously doubt it.
