Luton – Fans Fear For Keepers Future

With the Hatters comfortable in the game and leading 2-0, courtesy of the brace from Harry Cornick, did anyone else’s heart miss a beat when Millwall were awarded an 83rd minute penalty?

For me, it was the moment that could have turned the match, although comfortably leading, history is littered with the Hatters falling from grace and losing points late on.

If Jed Wallace had of slotted home that 83rd minute spot-kick, would Luton have succumbed to some late pressure and dropped points?

I guess we will never know because Simon Sluga produced a moment of magic to produce an excellent save, much to the delight of the 1600+ Luton fans packed in the top tier of the away stand.

Sluga certainly rose to the occasion as Luton ensured they took the three points on offer and, in doing so, avoided defeat for the first time in 10 league visits to London.

The penalty save attracted attention on social media:

but also highlighted another fact that should all concern us:

Losing Sluga would be a blow and I am not sure how accurate the rumours are that are floating about that the Croatian is not too endeared with life in England.

However, if he maintains his current form one poster has no doubt where he will end up:

I am not sure we will but, on mainland Europe, I would not mind betting there are several clubs keenly aware of the contract situation.

Get it sorted Luton!

I don’t think he has a problem with being in England per say. It’s more that he doesn’t have his family with him. An let’s be real about this family is more important than any job. He appears to only get time with them during international fortnight’s an off season. An could it be that when he’s suddenly not been in the team nj has granted him time off to see an be with his family this has happened a couple of times since he arrived? So if he wants to goo back maybe we shouldn’t be hard on him. Also could that be why rumours were so strong about Walton in the summer. Maybe lans were in place but fell through. Makes you think doesn’t it.

Hi guys, from the sound of things been said on the site simonwill be off in the summer but you can’t blame him family comes first . But should we sell in January if we get any takers and get something back for him. That I think is the best choice but why are we not hearing anything about new contracts, I know Garry sweet will be doing all he can behind the scenes but it would be good to hear something. Coyh

Hi adrew, we don’t know anything more than you. We are just putting out the possibility of likely outcomes. Sadly the owners are a very tight lipped group that’s why we rarely know transfer fees or if they are in negotiations on new contracts. An why I only hear about transfers when contracts are more or less signed.
