Luton – Choosing A Preference

Image for Luton – Choosing A Preference

It really is, this chase for a Championship play-off place, going to go down to the wire.

Last night, any of us who were hoping that Middlesbrough would slip up, against Cardiff City, were left disappointed with Middlesbrough winning.

It leaves Luton facing their last two games, probably, needing a single point to clinch a place in the shake-up.

Our penultimate Championship fixture is against Fulham, a side who have already claimed one of the two automatic Championship places and a club who are closing in on clinching top spot and its associated trophy.

Switching the game, from Saturday to Monday, could be conceived as a hinderance but it could also work in our favour, results could have gone our way and a sacred play-off place could already be ours.

But should we be fearful of a trip to Craven Cottage?

I don’t think so, if we can cope with our elongated injury list, I believe we can get a result, Fulham’s form, in recent matches has dipped, as the most recent form shows – LLWDL.

But, continuing with the play-off scenario, who would you prefer to play?

Looking at the table, I reckon Nottingham Forest will overhaul Bournemouth and claim the second automatic spot, with Bournemouth claiming third place, which means if Luton slip to 6th place they could be our opponents.

However, I reckon Luton will finish 4th or 5th, meaning they will play the team that finishes next to them.

Given a choice, I’d prefer Huddersfield Town, but who would be your preference?

I fear it could all come down to goal difference and so our makeshift defence has to hold out. A draw from one of the two games could surely be enough.

  • Gavin says:

I think I would prefer to play Huddersfield, but I don’t know why as out of the three, Huddersfield are the only ones to beat us in our most recent match with them. Having already breaten Forrest and Bournemouth you’d think they would be seen as the easiest

It’s of no consequence who we play as it’s going to hard whoever we play. And we’re not there yet I’ll take each game as it comes an let others worry.

  • Andrew says:

I agree Chris let’s get across the line then look at who is in our way later , I hope it’s all dusted by the reading game so we can enjoy the game more . Coyh

Agree, it looks like Forest may overtake Bournemouth.
Forest would be after revenge having lost to us in the league recently, so they are the team I’d least like to face.
I’d fancy our chances against any of the others over 2 legs, especially if the 2nd leg was at Luton at night.
My prediction is 1, Fulham, 2, Forest, 3, Bournemouth, 4, Huddersfield, 5, Luton, 6, Sheff. Utd.
    Luton v Sheff Utd. final
    Luton go up.

No preference, they all need to be beaten. Let’s just help by supporting the lads whoever we play, and 40000 can go to Wembley and cheer

Making the play-offs would be monumental an achievement, all tough sides but would prefer to avoid Huddersfield in the semi’s solely because because the last match was very aggressive and very fresh in the memory. Could result in suspensions and injuries on both sides over 2 legs which would make a potential final even more difficult… COYH
