Town Chairman Bill Tomlins has been reported as claiming that the Junction 12 project for a new stadium complex with enabling developments could be agreed in the next two weeks.

He was quoted as saying:

‘The landowner (Cliff Bassett)has the club at heart, and we have negotiated a deal for 30 acres and £25million to build the new stadium.

‘We are looking at reaching a full-blooded agreement within the next two weeks. It would be fantastic for the club – like winning the lottery.’

Many fans will greet the report with suspicion and doubt, as many such claims have come and gone over the past 30 years! The analogy of winning the lottery is perhaps not the best one to have coined, because we all know what the odds against that are!

I would be pleased to be able to report a positive outcome in two weeks time. Watch this space!
