Yesterday the news broke that our gaffer, Nathan Jones, has been nominated for the Championship January manager of the month.
Nathan’s nomination is just reward for the fine run of recent form that has the support talking about Luton Town being potential play-off contenders.
Naturally, the news was well received by those who frequent social media, more of that later.
But what are the chances of Nathan winning the award?
First, we need to look at the other nominees – Steve Cooper (Nottingham Forest), Marco Silva (Fulham) and Mark Warburton (Queens Park Rangers).
Cooper has revitalised Forest and, during January, saw his side win 3 of the 4 games played.
Warburton has taken QPR to the brink of an automatic play-off place with his side earning 12 points from 5 games played.
Silva continues to lead Fulham back towards reclaiming the Premier League place with his side winning 13 points in the month and scoring a staggering 23 goals.
As for Nathan, he guided Luton to a healthy 10 points from the 5 games played, wins against Bournemouth, Reading and Bristol City and a draw against Blackburn Rovers.
Looking at the above statistics, I would put my money on Silva winning the award, wouldn’t you?
But returning to those who frequent social media, is winning the manager of the month award something akin to a curse with defeat following confirmation?
I don't want the curse, thanks

Well, it would appear, to one poster, to be a case of misinformation:
There is no curse. Statistically mangers who win the manager of the month win their next game after winning the award

But while I rate Nathan as the outsider in the four-man race, that’s not everybody’s point of view:
Has to win

Can Nathan grab the award?
