It was, to be honest, a result we all expected, if we are to believe our pre-match poll.

But the Hatters certainly took their time when it came to securing the three points on the line at Deepdale, against Preston North End, yesterday.

Indeed, it took a fortunate own goal for Luton Town to seal the 1-0 win and even then, we had to be reliant on Simon Sluga to produce a late save to ensure that our hosts did not take a share of the spoils.

It has certainly been a change in fortunes when compared to a year ago when the correct decision was taken to axe Graeme Jones and bring back Nathan Jones, a decision that could be deemed the best bit of business the Hatters hierarchy have done in the last eighteen months.

Following the narrow, but deserved win Nathan, as reported by The BBC had this to say:

“I’m delighted because I came back around this time last year and since then the group have been absolutely outstanding.

“We’re establishing ourselves as a Championship side and we’ve had targets of where we want to be and we’re hitting every single one.

“We’ve kept moving forward and that’s what we’ve got to keep doing because we feel we should be higher in the league.”

Yes, we could be if we had of taken the many chances that have fallen our way and eliminated the plethora of early goals, we have had a knack of conceding.

But, nevertheless, we can all feel proud that our club, in these complicated pandemic driven financial times, continues to punch above its weight.
