Luton inflicted a 4-1 defeat on a Newcastle XI including some of their most promising players. the same Toon team beat Gateshead 3-0 at the weekend.

Two goals from Matthew Barnes Homer gave the Town a 2-0 half time lead and Danny Crow all but sealed it in the second half before Newcastle got one back.

Late on a Luton attack broke down on the edge of the Newcastle penalty area when the keeper rushed out to clear. The ball fell to Newton, centrally and fully 40 yards out, who hit it first time with superb control and floated it over everyone and into the empty net to cap an excellent performance by Luton.

Czech triallist Kdenĕk Kroča played again for 90 minutes at centre half and looked as solid as a rock and marked Newcastle’s well thought of Nial Ranger out of the game.

He was joined by fellow countryman Pavel Besta a right sided central midfielder who looked useful but in the short cameo he played it was difficult to judge him fully.

One thing is for sure, if the Town play like that this season they have every chance of winning the BSP!
