Luton – A Whole Generation Have Missed Out

Nobody is under-estimating the size of the task facing Luton this Saturday when they welcome Watford to Kenilworth Road for a Championship fixture.

The Hornets are on a good run, when it comes to form, having won 7 of their last 8 Championship fixtures.

Those 7 wins have lifted them into second place in the Championship table and there is now a 9-point gap between them and third-placed Brentford.

But being the underdog, in this fixture, could play into Luton’s hands.

Indeed, being safe in a mid-table position could see the shackles thrown off and Luton go on the offensive.

But did you know that it is 27 years since Luton Town last beat Watford at Kenilworth Road?

That victory came in 1993 when the Hatters emerged 2-1 victors, courtesy of goals from Paul Telfer and Kerry Dixon.

Just think, a whole generation of Hatters supporters have not experienced the elation of a home win over Watford, methinks it is time to put that right!
