Luton – A Trip To Cardiff Beckons

The fixture computer really hasn’t been kind to us when it comes to our away trips, so far this season.

Hard-on-the-heels of long trips to Bristol City and Swansea, the Hatters now face a midweek trek to Cardiff in their latest Championship fixture.

After two ‘better’ displays against Swansea City and Sheffield United, performances that have seen Luton Town take four points out of a possible six, hopes are high that the Hatters can take maximum points from this fixture in South Wales.

A win would lift Luton up the table and prepare us for that play-off place challenge.

But how have Cardiff City started the season?

With six games played, Cardiff sits in 14th place in the table, five places above Luton, but have only accumulated two points more.

Like Luton, they have a goal difference of -1 but have scored one goal fewer than Luton.

Their recent record reads as thus – LWDLD – nothing for Luton to fear.

With Championship games coming thick and fast, the gaffer, Nathan Jones, could be prepared to make changes to his starting XI, but, for this fixture, who would definitely make your starting XI?

This won’t be the line up, purely theoretical as an alternate approach to see if we can adapt and play plan B this season.

    4-3-3

    Horvath
    Bree
    Burke
    Lockyer
    Bell
    Campbell
    Berry
    Freeman
    Pereira
    Morris
    Clark

I know, we will be 5-3-2 and Pereira wouldn’t get a run with reserves under NJ but dare to dream!

our defence and midfield are gelling well. not sure about strikers.just want a good game, without unecessary fouls. and a competent referee. not asking to much, am i.COYH.

Hi jimbo, we all need to remember that a referee Will never change a decision!!! Unless there is var. Which we don’t have so if a ref is good or bad. It’s no good anyone complaining it won’t change anything. After the game so we all have a moan about them down the pub. It amazes me that all managers bother to broadcast their feelings in the media at all. They have a match report on the ref to give in marking him that’s the way to go about it. Give him a big fat zero. Not waste breath winging to the media. As for us fans debate down the pub how bad the ref was an during the game is our recourse.

      • Steve Bahrain says:

We have had terrible refs on occasion, I said a stronger ref in Sheff U match and a different game.
Can’t remember the manager talking about it, a few years back, but we’re saying the minimum score is 3 or 4… As turning is a point and bringing whistle/cards etc… Is another…
        Or something like.

Morning mh, for me the only change of the 11 that started the Sheffield game would be adebayo out an Jerome in everybody else was excellent. Freeman Campbell Clark in midfield were excellent. If freeman can continue to get game time allowing him to build up his stamina after injuries he an the other 2.can be a formidable trio.
