The signing of Jon Shaw was a real coup for Luton Town Football Club.
We understand that the prolific scorer had offers from several other clubs but the lure of leading Luton to promotion back to the Football League proved to be too good to turn down.
Speaking to the local media, Shaw has given a great insight into why he chose Luton and is ambitions for the club, commenting,
“When I met and spoke with Paul Buckle ad Gary Sweet we had a conversation about the history of the club and the great strikers they`ve had down the years.”
“It`s not about emulating or becoming like these players – I`ve come here to write my own history.”
“Luton is a massive club which deserves success and I want to be the player that gives the fans that. I want to be a hero, I want to be a player that the fans look up to, like legends like Mick Hartford.”
I reckon that if Shaw can repeat his goal-scoring heroics of his Gateshead days then promotion is a real possibility!
