With the clock ticking away and approaching the 85th minute I’m probably not alone in thinking the Hatters were going to start the resumption of their season with a loss.
But, as football has shown us time and time again, never give up hope until the final whistle.
The late equaliser, against Preston North End, scored by Callum McManaman, could be just the thing that gives the tea the confidence boost it needs.
The point gained, against Preston North End, was certainly appreciated by those who frequent the various social media sites with numerous acknowledging that Preston, who are looking to finish in a play-of place, are a decent side.
Below are a few of the multitude of postings illustrating the point:
Better late than never 👏 onto the next one!

Rather take the draw….onwards and upwards 🧡🙏 #COYH

Good draw lads 👏👏 on we go….

Should be a confidence builder, Preston is a decent squad, to fight back late for a draw will feel a bit like a victory.

However, with the ground devoid of spectators, it hasn’t stopped a little piece of terrace banter emerging:
Unbeaten under NJ COYH!

But now with two difficult away games next up, with the Hatters visiting Swansea City and Leeds United, the behind closed doors scenario has shown home support is somewhat negated, prompting the following post:
For me, today highlighted what a leveller an empty stadium is. Everything to play for in our next two away at large empty stadiums 🧡🎩

Yes, there is everything to play and if we can secure at least one win it’ll be a job well done but, here at Vital Luton Town, we’re not under-estimating the magnitude of the task.
But, in finishing this glimpse through the social media posts relating to the Preston North End game, I couldn’t resist the following:
Nathan Jones makes me feel warm again. We’re staying up I know it

A touch of the Alan Carr’s about that post, methinks!

Morning all, great positive responses, keep the faith…we have escaped many relegations over the years….let’s get the Maine road mindset going…
I 100% agree with you Alan. As NJ has pointed out we are a point closer now than before the Preston game, added to the fact the team fought back well too, so plenty still to be optimistic about I feel. If we could close the gap down a point a game on average then we can survive & if we can draw with Preston at home with no support I’m quite sure we can compete with Swansea & Leeds etc away although of course it won’t be easy. Also obviously the six pointers coming up with teams around us will be massive too so still everything to play for. At least we have the chance to stay up by playing albeit in far from ideal circumstances but better than a panel of experts relegating us via a points average system for instance.
