As we prepare for the start of the new season, it’s fair to say that the Hatters are on the cusp of a golden (orange-tinted) new era.
Two consecutive successful promotion campaigns have lifted the Hatters from League Two to the Championship, something we could only ever have dreamed about during those dark days when a draconian points-deduction left the club languishing in non-league football.
Throw into the mixer the fact that, soon, a brand-new ground will be emerging from the eyesore that is Power Court and you can see why I’m championing the fact that the future really is orange.
But with a season of championship football beckoning what are your aspirations for the 2019 / 2020 season?
Personally, after such a rapid climb through the leagues, I’d be happy with a season of consolidation.
I’d be grateful to see Graeme Jones steer, in his first season in charge, the club to a steady mid-table position and avoiding, if at all possible, any flirtation with the dreaded relegation places.
I’d also like to see the Hatters go on a decent cup run in either of the two domestic cup competitions, possibly creating a few shocks on the way.
Now I could have suggested I wanted a third promotion on the bounce, to gate-crash the Premier League, but I’m realistic enough to accept that we’re not ready for that yet, that particular step would be a leap too far, as it stands.
So, I’ve laid my cards on the table, how about you, simply drop a few lines into the comment facility beneath this article and we’ll see where this one takes us.
