Luton commence their 2017 / 2018 campaign this afternoon when they entertain Yeovil Town, at Kenilworth Road.

However, two players who many would consider to be first-team regulars will not feature this afternoon as the Hatters start what they hope will be a promotion winning campaign.

Danny Hylton and James Justin will be watching the action from the Kenilworth Road stands with both recovery from injury.

Hylton is recovering from a leg injury sustained at the back end of last season which required surgery whilst Justin is recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up whilst training with the England U19 squad.

Neither are expected to be fir the for trip to Barnet either, however, Nathan Jones is hoping that both will make a return to action when Luton entertain Tottenham Hotspur in the Checkatrade Trophy fixture at Kenilworth Road, on Tuesday August 15th.

But that isn`t something that is actually certain with Nathan Jones remarking to the media ahead of the first fixture of the season against Yeovil,

“They`re running fully, doing everything, they`ll integrate in training a little bit tomorrow and then start Monday.

“Then we can start building them up and it`s how quick they get up to speed

“We won`t rush them, we envisage the Tottenham game being a potential one, but it`s a long season. So rather than force someone now and risk picking up certain muscle strains, we`ll make sure we bring them back safely and properly, so that they`re durable for the season.”

Patience appears to be the key word in this instance.
