I`ve just got this feeling that Jon Shaw will prove to be an inspirational buy.
The free-scoring forward was, as we`ve reported previously, a wanted man with several clubs after his shooting boots.
Talking about the chase for his services, in a free local paper that pops through my letter-box every Sunday morning, Jon had this to say about how he came to be at Luton,
“It`s been a long time coming and I just can`t wait to get started.”
“At the start of last season Gary Brabin and Gary Sweet made approaches to Gateshead and they flatly refused. I did, at one point, ask for permission to speak to Luton but they wouldn`t let me.”
“That was fine, I appreciated they wanted me to stay and see out my contract.”
“That`s what happened and I had a good season and at the end of it Luton were still interested, along with a couple of other clubs.”
“I met other clubs and listened to them, like I said I would do, but you can`t help but be impressed by the size of Luton, the ambition and drive of the new manager and with the new players that are coming in.”
“I think I`ve made a good decision.”
I certainly think you have Jon, but then again as a life-long Hatter I would say that wouldn`t I?
