Back in the days when it was financially viable for me to drink in the waterholes in Luton Town centre, I used to frequent one pub on a regular basis.
It wasn`t one of the biggest pubs, in fact it wasn`t bigger than many a front room, but it had character and they were a friendly crowd in there.
On one such visit I was chatting to the landlord and he told me a tale.
He told me of how he`d been to the wedding reception of Kingsley Black and upon entering the toilet had started up a conversation with another guest.
Now I get the impression that the landlord wasn`t exactly the biggest of football fans because he asked the person stood next to him at the urinal how he come to know Kingsley.
Being polite the gentleman inferred through football.
Quick as a flash the landlord asked this person if he played a bit on Sunday mornings.
The retort was something along the lines of – “Something like that.”
The gentleman was in fact, the national icon that is Stuart Pearce
And yes you are right, the landlord never knew that Kingsley and Stuart were fellow Nottingham Forest players and got ridiculed for it for years!
