Will It Be More Of The Same For Luton Town Or Will Things Get Better, That’s The Big Question

Thanks to a huge upturn in form, once the 2019 / 2020 season resumed, Luton Town ensured they retained their Championship status for, at least, another season.

In doing so they defied the critics and delighted the Kenilworth Road support.

However, in these strange pandemic driven times we are currently living in, it won’t be long before the 2020 / 2021 season is in full swing.

Now, normally, I wouldn’t ask this question until just before the new season commences but, following the ‘Great Escape’ my enthusiasm is, perhaps, getting the better of me, so here goes.

Sat here in the editorial seat, at Vital Luton Town, I’d like to know what your hopes are for the coming season.

Do you expect more of the same with the Hatters embroiled in a relegation battle?

Do you expect, with the experience we gained in our first season back in the second tier of English football, Luton to consolidate further and finish in mid-table?

Or do you expect the Hatters, based on the form shown during the nine games played after the season resumption, the Hatters to be challenging for a play-off place?

I realise a lot of changes, especially to the playing staff could still take place, but, aside from taking six-points off Watford, what are your early expectations?

Hi mh, my feeling for last season was if we kept the same formation an team an added a little experience of championship. Then we would have been a comfortable low middle table status. But as we know I was against the new manager. We would have been 15 points better off without his meddling. For this season nj has already shown players ignored by the previous manager are championship players and I fully expect us to be upper middle of table. With the current climate I don’t expect many additional players to be signed and I don’t think they will be needed.

With a now accomplished (more experienced) goal- keeper we will hopefully give less points away for a start. We must have thrown away at least 5-8 points re Boro, Sheff Wed, Derby, Forest and Fulham goal keeping errors. My view is that the Championship will be slightly weaker next season with the likes of Wycombe, Coventry (no home ground) and Rotherham entering the fold and if you factor in Sheff Wed points deduction I think we should be confident of a less stressful end of season at least. For me its all about having the right manager, the right one for us, so with all that in mind I would see a points target of 60 well within our compass.

Hi all totally agree think the players are happier for a start and I think we will hold our own quite comfortably. Think they have learnt about the league and I don’t think another relegation fight will happen this season…

It all depends on summer signings! We need: 1, A “Shoot on sight” striker who is not afraid to miss, who doesn’t need the whole Kenny to shout ‘have a go’…… 2, A couple of young, fast wingbacks to give us some real with and a “Shut the door” defender who can go the distance with physical teams like Wycombe Wanderers etc….. NJ has what it will take.. The right players will help enormously.

Hi all, so spurs have agreed to let vickers go. But can we pay £2mill an his wages. I hope so but fear he will go to a prem or upper championship side.

Luton showed in the final third or so of the season….interspersed either side of the enforced break…that they are more than capable of holding their own in that division. Indeed, even in quite a few of the games they lost, Luton were at least competitive in the game.
Obviously defence is the problem. Get that tightened up and the team should be ok and more confident going forward.
Having Nathan Jones back has rejuvenated certain players, and with a full season to work with the group, I think Luton can aim to finish with at least a 8-10 point cushion from the relegation places.

Hi Chris surely if spurs have released ccv then there is no fee maybe….

  • Alan says:

Hi again chris, forget that just heard how much spurs are asking…think we can forget that one unfortunately…

  • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan, for obvious reasons I can’t say to much. But it’s still possible it may have to be a large sell on clause to help lessen the initial cost also the wages. The player is open to returning but if another bigger club comes in we’ll that’s the problem. But someone with links to both clubs has been working tirelessly to help

Hi all, see luton are supposed to be interested in Polish defensive midfielder. Hmm a replacement or back up I wonder. Captained polish under 20s plays for gadansk

  • Chris winter says:

Hi all, so we’ve signed Jordan Clark on a free another attacking midfielder I remember him playing very well against us at Shrewsbury an Accrington. But am puzzled as to why we need another attacking middy does anyone agree? Would rather have got this pole as cover for rea myself as that is more needed. What do you think

  • Alan says:

Hi all, good to see elliot Lee signed too after being ignored by gj….

  • Alan says:

Hi chris, quality & hard working player…

  • Chris winter says:

Hi all, see gj is being touted for the Wigan job god help them if he gets it. As if those poor fans haven’t suffered enough. The only team I’d wish him on is the scum

  • Alan says:

If gj gets Wigan job, get to the bookies & put your money on then getting 2nd relegation….
