After being invited back to Kenilworth Road for a second trial, Craig Sibbald had the chance to secure a contract with the Hatters.

With his first trial being so rudely interrupted by injury, when the squad were in Slovenia, Sibbald had another chance to impress Nathan Jones and his back-room team.

Unfortunately for Craig it wasn`t to be and the midfielder returned to Falkirk.

Talking to the media, Nathan Jones explained why the Hatters didn`t decide to offer the youngster a deal, with the emphasis being on not bringing in anybody unless they can offer the club something those currently on the books cannot.

Jones also insisted that it wasn`t any compensation fee Luton may have had to pay Falkirk, with the boss quoted as having remarked,

‘If we identify the right type of player the club has backed me. With Craig we know he’s a very good player, but we also realize we have a very good squad. When he came in he trained for two weeks and played in a few games, but in my opinion, in that time he didn’t show he was better than what we had.”

Which, although it may be seen as being harsh on Sibbald, is exactly the attitude we have to take!
