Sang the group Muse!

Well sat in the office this afternoon, still bleary-eyed from last night having gotten to bed in the early hours of the morning, I have to ask is time running out on our promotion hopes?

A defeat has left us fourteen points behind the league leaders Grimsby and the games in hand figure has been eroded.

To get automatic promotion would take an enormous effort and would be a mighty achievement. In all honesty, the best we can hope for is a place in the play-offs but hopefully without the heartache we`ve suffered in previous years.

But why is the promotion bid floundering?

Why are we not producing the goods like we know we are?

Ronnie Henry puts it down to too many poor performances and not learning quick enough what is needed to get out of this darned league, remarking to the media,

“That game summed up why we are still down in this division.’

‘We have not been good enough and if we continue to perform like that we will not be getting back into the Football League this season either. We have got to learn quick in this promotion run-in.’

Now that is a sobering thought isn`t it, another season in this league!
