The new 2019 / 2020 season is almost upon us.

The long summer wait is almost over and the Hatters faithful, after back-to-back promotions, are eager to sample life as a Championship side.

The last two seasons have been memorable ones and we’re all hoping that the Hatters can continue to ride on the crest of a wave, although we’re realistic enough to accept that a successful season this time around would be a top-half finish.

But, as was the case last season, Luton Town face a tough start to their season with three intriguing fixtures to get the season underway.

This Friday the Hatters, in front of the Sky Sports cameras, welcome Middlesbrough to Kenilworth Road for the opening fixture of the Championship season.

That game is followed, a week later, by a trip to Wales to take on Cardiff City a team who, this time last year, were waiting to commence a Premier League campaign.

The third game of the season sees the Hatters welcome West Bromwich Albion, another side who were playing in the top-flight not too long ago, to Kenilworth Road.

Our question to you is something you may wish to ponder over.

How many points do you realistically expect Luton Town to accumulate in those opening three games?

Please feel free to drop your view into the comment facility beneath this article.

  • After the performance on Saturday. With the team seeming not to know what tactics to use. And the manager blaming the travel an game on weds. I would be grateful for 1pt!!!

  • I have total confidence in Jones. Middlesborough will not relish coming to the Kenny on a Friday night plus there manager Woodgate it will be totally territory to him and we probably know more about them than they know about us.

We will beat Borough and a draw at Cardiff and another Draw against W.B.A 5 points from the first 3 games would be a good haul with Sheff Weds and Barsnley to follow we will be top of the league at the end of August

  • Well we lost the last friendly but that’s all its was. I feel a draw Friday, Cardiff will be hard maybe a loss and a home win against W.B.A . Why someone who supports the town would give negative feedback before we even kick a ball amazes me.

    • Having been a supporter since 1963 and having seen everything I think I can make an objective view of the club. Having seen Saturdays performance it was obvious that the players were lost an unsure of the tactics. Also why buy a keeper. What does that say about the keepers we got!!! An how must they feel. This reminds me of lenny laurence management. Other positions are more urgent. But if you wear rose specs good luck

  • The first game will be really important for the manager and the team as a whole,if we sneak a win confidence will be high,we can take that into the next few games and push on. We are a good outfit and will surprise a few teams this year, but this league is possibly the hardest league in the world, very competitive. I’ll be happy with 4points though.

  • The first 15 mins against Norwich was a real lesson, we were completely over run and looked like rabbits in headlights.
But overall a 1- 0 second half score line was quite an improvement, especially as Norwich look a very good side and we should have scored a second goal.
We wont play many teams as good as them this season so overall we shouldn’t be too disappointed with the result.
If we can get going and build up our confidence from last season, I think we can achieve a mid-table finish, and that would be a great season.

    • Norwich are a good side but so are several others in the Championship, as you say mid-table would be a realistic aim.

  • I believe the boys were tired against a good Norwich team. Plus, a bit of a wake up call. We have new players to bed into the team too (like most teams too). A good start would be an awsome 4 points and hope to build from there. It’s gonna be an exciting season #COYH
