I tried to draw together a team of players that have played for both Luton Town and Nottingham Forest, but it did not quite work out.
Despite adopting a 3-5-2 formation, to accommodate those players I could find who wore the shirts of both clubs, I could not find a 100% legitimate third defender.
Instead, I had to use a bit of poetic license and opt to use Paul Hart*, who has had a role to play at both clubs.
Interestingly, looking at the team selected, I reckon the midfield is the strongest area, with my XI looking like thus:
Goalkeeper – Steve Sutton
Defender – Colin Todd
Defender – Paul Hart*
Defender – Matthew Upson
Midfielder – Garry Parker
Midfielder – Tom Ince
Midfielder – Kingsley Black
Midfielder – David Pleat
Midfielder – Danny Wilson
Striker – Barry Butlin
Striker – Gary McSheffrey
Substitute – Jorge Grant
Are there any other players you can think off that could add to, or improve, the side above?
If so, please feel free to have your say in the comment facility beneath this article.

You could have added Stuart Imlach. By the way I am a lifetime Town supporter living in Nottingham with a season ticket for the Trent End. Last season though I purchased a ticket for the Bridgeford end to be with the Town supporters.
Second time I saw Town and Forest was 1959 cup final, first time I visited the City Ground was when Malcolm McDonald broke the crossbar at the Bridgeford end. Travelled to Wembley with my Forest friends for the League cup final in Towns colours. Town will always come first, you hatters!
Stuart Imlach, 1960, a left winger, I wonder if he could have slotted into a back three 🙂 Loved reading your post by the way, lets hope for a Hatters win on Tuesday evening.
If you are including Paul Hart then you have to include a great defender and Forest favourite Chris Cohen. Then of course the king, Mick Hartford.
Hi Murray I remember that game. Me and my wife travelled up. It was a freezing evening with a pitch like a skating rink. Took 15 minutes to replace the crossbar.
Happy days
Lee Glover is a random one – he made ONE appearance on loan for Luton in the early 90’s + played many times for Forest as I recall.
