Who’d have guessed, back in August, when the Hatters got off to a far from decent start to the season, we’d be, with eleven games left, on top of the League One table, five points clear and looking at back-to-back promotion campaigns.

Not even losing Nathan Jones, to Stoke City, has seen the Hatters derailed as they’ve gone on a club record 22-game unbeaten run in the league, the future really does look bright, even more so if the Newlands development gets approval next week clearing the way for the long-awaited erection of a new stadium, something that has been talked about, in various guises for many a decade.

But, when it comes to a second consecutive promotion campaign, here at Vital Luton Town, we’re not counting our chickens before they’ve hatched, we’re too long in the tooth to take anything for granted and know that a blip in form could cost the Hatters so dearly.

Ever game Luton Town play now will be a mine-field, teams will be looking to knock the Hatters off their lofty perch, eager to beat a side being touted, by pundits, as potential League One champions.

In our opinion, the next four games will be crucial, four games that could go a long way in defining our future.

Coming up this month are Plymouth (a) on Saturday, Bradford City (a) on Tuesday evening followed by home games on the next two Saturdays against Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers.

They are four games you’d hope the Hatters can win, all against opponents that are, apart from Doncaster Rovers, are not in contention for promotion and two of them are, in fact, flirting with relegation.

Being realistic, if the Hatters can pick up 9 or 10 points from those four games then their promotion credentials will have been considerably enhanced and here at Vital Luton Town, we’ll start believing the dream is really happening.
