That Weather!

Saturday afternoon, as Luton Town closed in on the three points available, was a surreal experience.

With inclement weather forecast I doubt anybody realized the extent of what was going to happen.

The sky suddenly got blacker and blacker, the temperature dropped and then the heavens truly did open.

Rain lashed down, lightning crashed around the famous old ground, whilst the wind picked up to such a pace debris was being blown around at a horrendous pace.

It was weather the like of which I hadn`t experienced before and the referee really did have no other option than to take the two teams off of the field of play, albeit for about six minutes until the storm had passed.

Following the fine 3-0 win, John Still had this to say about nature intervening in such a dramatic fashion, remarking,

“I know it sounds silly but hailstones actually hurt you and the referee was right to bring everybody of.”

He certainly was, and I doubt anybody inside the ground disagreed with his decision!
