Swindon v Luton preview

Luton’s first away league game takes them to The County Ground Swindon.

Sam Parkin will miss a return to his former club but Luton have a strong squad available.

Manager Kevin Blackwell will be looking for a continuation of the success against Hartlepool but with an all round improved performance.

Vital Quotes:

Swindon Manager Paul Sturrock told Swindon’s official website:

‘This weekend will be a very difficult game for us and I will be asking my players to be very positive in their approach.

‘It’s a fine line between winning and losing and we will have to be very tuned in to scoring a goal and that requires concentration for the whole 90 minutes.’

Kevin Blackwell on www.lutontown.co.uk:

‘I believe we have a squad of players where anyone can be in the first team and that is a really good feeling as a manager.

‘I think what Tuesday night has done is given the players who started on Saturday against Hartlepool a warning that they can not sit on their laurels.’

Swindon Town Team News:

Phil Smith and Peter Brezovan may be fighting for one place after good performances and Spaniard Ibon Arrieta could make his debut after a promising substitute appearance, as Swindon lacked firepower in their opening games. Ady Williams and Barry Corr are both sidelined.

Player to watch: Hasney Aljofree

Can be a pain at both ends of the field

Luton Town Team News:

Former Robins Sam Parkin and Sol Davis both definitely miss this game although both could be available for selection within a month.

Otherwise, Blackwell will probably stick with the same squad as last Saturday.

Player to watch: Paul Peschisolido

Looked dangerous in pre-season but has not yet scored in competition matches and will want to get off the mark.

Match Facts & Stats

In all competitions Luton hold the better record with 46 wins 21 draws and 33 defeats.

Last time the 2 teams met was in March 2005 when goals from Holmes Nicholls and Brkovic were enough to secure a 3-1 victory for the Hatters, on their way to the League 1 title.

Match Prediction:

A difficult place to visit but if the Town can keep concentration for the whole 90 minutes they could stun the home team.
