It has been a torrid week for the Hatters support.
Out of the blue, Nathan Jones has left us in the lurch.
Those promises of staying to the end and seeing this project through, coupled with the thumping of his chest signalling his love of our famous old club, now appear to be just hollow gestures with Jones having left Kenilworth Road to take over the poisoned chalice on offer at Stoke City.
Now, whether it is a move that turns out to be a successful one, remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, Mick Harford has stepped into the void left by Jones’ departure for the trip to take on Sunderland this afternoon.
The game gives the Hatters the chance to avenge the defeat Sunderland inflicted upon us at the start of the season, whilst also giving the Hatters the chance to open up a gap between themselves in second place and Sunderland in third.
The Stadium of Light, expected to host a huge crowd for this game, will be a testing place for Luton to visit and could provide us with an indication of how Jones’ sudden departure may affect the club.
Sat here in the editorial chair, I’m hoping our resilience will shine through and it will be business as usual until a permanent replacement for Jones can be found.
With the kick-off fast approaching, we are now able to bring you the team-sheets to mull over.
