Joining a new team, facing you old club on your full debut and then scoring the winner!
But that`s exactly what happened to our latest acquisition, Tommy Wright.
Having scored the winner at Grimsby, Tommy spoke about his delight and also covered his time at the club, a time whereby they slipped out of the Football League and into the Conference, remarking to the local newshounds,
“My dad actually said to me that if I did start he thought I`d score.”
“Some things are written when you come back to somewhere you didn`t do as well as you`d have liked and it worked out.”
“I haven`t got any bitter words to say about Grimsby. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here but it was just a bit unfortunate. We were doomed from minute one.”
It is just nice to score goals. It doesn`t matter where they come. Grimsby is a big club and it`s always nice to score against big clubs.”
“It is always nice to score in front of your own fans. I`m not going to do an Adebayor because I`m not fit enough yet, to do the length of the pitch, so I gave that one a miss.”
