The Luton Town career of Jon Shaw never achieved the heights we hoped it would.

Signed from Gateshead, with whom he`d been a prolific scorer, Shaw saw his time at Kenilworth Road blighted by injury. Last season, although he did produce some memorable moments, he had to play second fiddle to a striker force that was , as we marched towards glory, comprised of Andre Gray and Paul Benson.

Another obstacle thrust in his way was Mark Cullen, with the former Hull player scoring some vital goals, most notably that equalizer up at the Abbey Stadium.

Therefore it probably didn`t come as too much of a surprise when he was released by Luton and given the chance to forge a career elsewhere.

But, reflecting on what has been achieved and what lies ahead Shaw has had some kind words, remarking in the local press,

“I think if they go about it the same way they went about it this year, I don`t see any reason why they won`t be challenging.”

“It`s a league that`s there to be got at, it`s a lot like the Conference, although it is slightly better.”

“The way that John Still works and the way that he has the team working, there`s no reason why he can`t have another successful campaign. If anyone would ask me if they will go up, I would immediately say yes.”

Let`s hope Jon is correct.
