It was always a long-shot but then again you just never know!

The moment Luton Town Football Club decided to appeal against the red-card Matt Robinson collected against Shrewsbury, you just knew it would be an uphill battle.

And that is exactly as it turned out with those who study such appeals deciding that the card would stand and that Robinson would serve a three game ban.

Naturally John Still had a few words to say on the subject of actually receiving the red card and seeing the appeal rejected, with the boss remarking to the media,

“Not in a million years for me. You can`t put one challenge against another, but when you see the challenge on Luke Guttridge when he came off injured, it wasn`t even a booking and that was far worse than the challenge Matt Robinson did.”

“That wasn`t my opinion, because I always do the same thing, I give it to people in the club and we have a consensus of opinion.”

“No-one at the club felt that it warranted anything more than a booking at worse.”

“At the time I thought it was (a red card), but when I saw it I was quite shocked over how innocuous it was.”

Like I`ve said previously, it takes a brave panel to decide the referee was wrong!
