Throughout the club’s existence, Luton Town’s loyal faithful have been treated to some truly brilliant goalscorers who won the club plenty of points during their illustrious careers with the Hatters. While the club could have certainly done with more goals from the likes of Elijah Adebayo last season, it’s incredibly tough to do it in the world’s biggest league. Still, Luton’s strike force certainly gave it a good go, with Carlton Morris being the standout performer.
Salah Could Win the Golden Boot This SeasonÂ
While the likes of Adebayo and Morris didn’t score enough goals to keep the club in the Premier League last season, it was a valiant effort from the entire squad. It’s impossible for a team with such limited resources to compete with the likes of Manchester City, a club with world-class operators at their disposal who are priced at 11/8 when looking at odds to win the Premier League this season.
City isn’t the only side possessing dangerous attacking players, either. There are goal machines all over the division, with the likes of Mohamed Salah being priced at 10/1 to finish top of the tree when it comes to the Premier League top scorer odds. While Liverpool’s legend is capable of scoring goals for fun in more recent times, Luton have been blessed with some reliable finishers in the past. Hatters fans will be hoping that the likes of Elijah Adebayo and Carlton Morris can do something similar this season.
Andre Gray Was Dangerous in His Day
Signed from non-league side Hinckley United, Andre Gray arrived at Luton Town as somewhat of an unknown quantity. The dangerous forward was a lethal finisher, though, and eventually went on to play in the Premier League. Gray helped Luton climb through the divisions, with his 55 goals being vital to the Hatters’ progress. It came as no surprise when Brentford made their move for the Wolverhampton-born striker in 2014, with many Luton fans thinking it would come far sooner given his obvious ability in front of goal.
Joe Payne Once Scored 10 Goals in Single Match
We’re going some way back here, but we simply couldn’t ignore Joe Payne. A player who scored a remarkable 10 goals for the club in a 12-0 victory over Bristol Rovers in 1936, Payne certainly knew where the goal was. Signed from relative obscurity from Bolsover Colliery in 1934, it’s fair to say that Payne’s one of the club’s greatest ever acquisitions.
Danny Hylton Delivered for the Club
After impressing at Oxford United, Luton made their move for Danny Hylton. There were numerous concerns over his injury record, but Hylton more than played his part during his time at the club. The creative striker was an integral figure in the promotion-winning sides of 2018 and 2019, and he always gave his all for the cause. Hylton scored 62 goals in 170 appearances for Luton and is well-liked among the fanbase.

The current Chief Recruitment Officer at the club, Mick Harford was just as proficient at scoring goals as he is at identifying potential additions for the club. A key cog in the wheel of the side who won the League Cup in 1988, Harford was a physical forward defenders didn’t relish coming up against. Turning out for the club on two separate occasions, the Sunderland-born striker scored 92 goals in 216 appearances for Luton Town.
