Now, On Reflection Perhaps???

Yesterday, travelling back from Forest Green there was, initially, an air of disappointment about Luton only getting a point.

But, sat in a town centre public house last night, discussing the game with a few mates, I kind of adjusted my view.

Although we still languish in mid-table, it was pointed out that for the first time this season we looked solid defensively and that there were spells when the delightful football we were renowned for, in days gone by, was starting to come to the surface.

After the game, John Still stepped forward and gave his verdict on the 0-0 draw, remarking,

“That`s our best performance so far this season. Our organisation was first class and I thought for the away team, Tyler had one shot really to save and a dangerous cross at the end, but other than that, we restricted them.”

“I thought our performance was strong, solid, determined, some good individual performances too. We just needed a little bit more quality in the final third, but I`d like to think our game is coming together a bit because it was our best performance in the four games.”

“I was pleased with our application and work-rate. We had a little passage of play in both halves of really good one touch football, which delighted me. That`s what we`ve got to keep working on to get that side of our game better.”

“The last home game they won eight, let`s put it in context. Dave (Hockaday) has had his team here for a little while, we`re still building. Am I happy with a point? I`m happy with a point now the game is over. Would I have settled for a point before? No, because I want to go to win.”

“Whenever I put a team out I go to win, but the level of performance was drastically improved since last week.”

On reflection, as I`ve already admitted, that was exactly the case, onwards and upwards Luton!
