Two fine wins in earlier rounds, against Portsmouth and Gateshead, have given the Hatters a place in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

When the draw was made, back in December, Luton were given an away trip against the Premier League side, Newcastle United.

It`s a plum draw and gives the Hatters the chance to test their wits against a side from the top-flight.

The Hatters will be taking the largest away support St James Park has witnessed since its last improvements were made.

Can the Hatters pull off a cup shock, let`s hope so!

Ahead of the tie we now have the names of those who will be officiating the match:

Referee – Neil Swarbrick

Assistant Referee – Andrew Garratt

Assistant referee – Billy Smallwood

Fourth Official – Darren Handley

With regards to the referee, Neil Swarbrick, he has taken charge of 14 games this season and has issued 37 yellow cards but has yet to issue a red card.

This will be the first time that Neil Swarbrick will have taken charge of a fixture involving Luton Town this season.
