Field Mill witnessed a cracker of a game as two of the candidates for promotion went head-to-head.

For the travelling Luton support, the first seventy-one minutes were not what they`d hoped for.

Mansfield Town took the lead in the first-half when Ryan Bennett prodded the ball home. In the seventy-first minute, it looked as if Luton`s hopes of getting anything from the game were over when Lee Angol doubled the lead for our hosts.

But, with the Hatters support looking to head for the exits, Luton staged a remarkable comeback. In the eighty-fifth minute James Collins struck his fifth goal of the season, tapping home from close range to give Luton hope.

Three minutes later the travelling support were dancing jig of delight as the Hatters levelled it at 2-2 when Danny Hylton was on hand to head home from two yards out.

But there was still time for yet more drama when deep into stoppage time Scott Cuthbert handled the ball at the far post.

Placing the ball on the spot, Jimmy Spencer had the ideal opportunity to claim the win for Mansfield but Marek Stech, in the Hatters goal, had other ideas and managed to keep out the spot-kick which was drilled straight down the middle of the goal, cue another jig of delight.

A remarkable game but one that took a few years off my life!
