Luton’s Strange Link With A Goalkeeper We’re Familiar With

As a creature of habit one of my first tasks, once the laptop is powered up, is to visit the BBC’s Transfer Gossip page.

Now I must admit I do it in the hope that there is a piece of transfer tittle-tattle relating to Luton Town.

Very rarely does it happen though.

However, this morning, there is something Hatters related.

The previously mentioned page has a link to footballinsider247, that infers that Luton Town are going head-to-head with Preston North End, for the services of a goalkeeper we are familiar with, Matt Ingram.

Upon reading it I must admit it cheered me up, not because of the prospect of Ingram signing for Luton but because it appears to be so inaccurate.

It’s already been reported this week that Ingram, as reported by The Hull Daily Mail, has had his contract extended by a year, by Hull City, after his spell on an emergency loan spell at Kenilworth Road.

Now, to me, this indicates Hull either want to keep Ingram on their books or if they are to have a sale then a fee would be wanted for Ingram.

Also, if Luton were so keen on a deal, I’m not sure they’d have bid Matt farewell so majestically, as reported in the linked article – Retained List – and using the following text:

“Goalkeeper Matt Ingram has returned to Hull City following his emergency loan spell for the final two league games of the regular season, and the play-offs. We thank both Matt and Hull for helping the Club following the season-ending injury to James Shea.”

Now either somebody is either playing their cards close to their chest or has gotten their wires completely crossed.

Furthermore, if Ingram was a transfer target, I’m not too sure, after missing his honeymoon to help us out, he’d be willing to join us if he saw the result to our recent poll.

With the poll question reading:

Should Luton Sign Matt Ingram On A Permanent Deal?

Only 9% selected the YES option with the remaining 91% going for the NO option!

But, although I think the chances of Matt Ingram becoming a Hatter are close to zero, you just never know in this strange game of ours.
