Luton Youngsters Performance Earns Praise From The Support

Back in September 2021, the Hatters signed a young midfielder whose contract had expired at Tottenham Hotspur.

The signing of Elliot Thorpe grabbed my attention, and I hoped that the exciting youngster, as I’ve said before, would bring something different to our midfield department.

Sadly, it wasn’t to be, Thorpe was restricted to just one appearance, in the FA Cup win at Cambridge United.

It began to look as if Thorpe would join the ranks of those youngsters that look on from the outside frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities.

But could things be changing?

The reason I ask is that Elliot has appeared in our last two fixtures – Newport County (Carabao Cup) and Preston North End (Championship), both appearances as a substitute.

But those two appearances have seen the Hatters support, on social media, heap praise on the Welsh youngster:

Praise indeed but I couldn’t help but chuckle at the ‘loan’ suggestion, knowing the way our youngsters are treated (more of that in an article to come) it wouldn’t surprise me in the latest!

PLEASE PLEASE GIVE THORPE MORE CHANCES!! GOMES TOO & PEREIRA !!

How much money do the wages of all the development players cost in a year ? PLUS those of acadamy players ! ONLY JUSTIN in 15 YEARS got regular chances & is a big big hit ! fergie took chances on the class of 92 !

We must have spent MANY MANY MILLIONS on wages over the last 15 years on players rarely given even a sniff of a chance.

If we dont blood them then SCRAP the acadamy & development teams & do what we have done for 15 years & buy in ready made talent !!

Lol Roby a man after me own heart. I spent a whole day posting on here about the situation with our set up it starts with the cedars programme and upwards to development. Mh was going to do an article but hasn’t got round to it yet.

Something is going wrong somewhere – as NJ said he must take some of the blame – is it just a coincidence that now Paul Hart and Big Mick are no longer involved directly with the first team that our form has dropped off. I look at poor Elijah he looks jaded and lost interest and seems to be mentally and physically suffering every game now – he is a good kid and needs to be rested – I made a bet that this season, with the way that NJ treats him, he will be lucky to get 10 goals unfortunately that seems to be coming true. COYH!!

It’s not how NJ treats him…..get his agent out of his ear…..come on boys it ain’t rocket science what’s going on…..plus we are 3 league games in…..stop the panic…..if we were sitting top, everyone would be saying (it’s early days) so keep the faith…..mick & Paul haven’t disappeared, they are still more involved than you think.. …

  • Alan says:

Can I just ask Chris, who are NJs favourites? As glen rea & pelly, who were in my opinion unfairly classed as favourites, are out injured. What players have inherited the favourites mantle…..

  • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan, he seems to like a few people that have been here a while an even if they are underperforming he seems to think that they will improve with still playing. When they should be rested. Or even if they are carrying knocks or just getting back to fitness putting them in to soon for me.
