Luton – You Are In The Managerial Hot Seat (2)

I have this nagging feeling the fixture against Millwall, at Kenilworth Road, on Tuesday night, is by far the most crucial of the season so far.

Our recent form has left a lot to be desired and we enter this fixture, against the South London side, on the back of a display that even Nathan Jones admitted was the worst he has witnessed.

As a result, there is a clamour amongt the Luton support for Nathan Jones to make several changes to his starting XI for this fixture.

If Nathan sticks with those he has shown faith in and the Hatters lose again, I dread to think what the reaction will be on social media.

Ahead of the Birmingham game, incidentally the last time we won, here at Vital Luton Town, we ran an article – luton-you-are-in-the-managerial-hot-seat – where we asked you to put yourselves in the managerial hot seat and select the starting XI you would start with.

The article received a good response therefore, with what many perceive could be a crisis on the horizon, I thought I would run a similar article.

Therefore, with that in mind, what would be the starting XI you would opt for when Millwall visit on Tuesday evening?

Simply drop your starting XI into the comment facility below and we will see what response we get.

Hi danny, agreed m8…might just have ince in there for berry though…

      • Danny says:

yep, i wouldn’t mind that change Alan, another fresh face coming into the starting 11 which is what’s needed. I’d be amazed if he doesn’t make wholesale changes to the midfield on Tues.

There seems to be some confusion in the team. A lack of alertness and awareness. We are leaving teams to much space. Just look how Stoke hunted in packs of four. Surrounding and closing down our player in possession of the ball. We didn’t do that. We have to many players raising their arm in apology when they made mistakes. Forget the raised arm apology pelly. Get on and play the game. Other players pointing out where certain players should be positioned on the pitch. What is that about? Players are constantly switching off from dead balls. Walking away from corners and throwings. Other teams are taking advantage of our hesitation. We need to be on the front foot. Be brave. Be positive. Mean business in the tackle. The attitude needs to improve as being a championship player does not mean you don’t have to give effort. Onthe contrary you have to give everything. And some players are now giving less than everything. Fitness allowing my team would be Slugga Pearson lockyer cranie and potts .Midfield like Berry dewsbury Hall moncur and tunnicliffe. Cornick and Sam nombe up front.

We need to get subs on before 70 minutes if needed. Why has Nombe not played in total a full 90 minutes yet?

Am not in a position to comment on current players form, as I now live in the far SW, my last match was Plymouth away in March 19.
Would like to make a few general points if that’s OK.
    1. Under 2020 we have massively overachieved from where we were to now. Undoubted ly the new stadium and everthing related have taken funds off building the team, look what has happened to Arsenal
    2. How many of the present squad have contracts expiring this summer? If approaches are being made this may be unsettling and affecting their form.
    3. Every team goes through a dodgy patch, lets all get behind NJ and the team and t hings will improve.

We need that extra cover… stop opposition midfield players getting a free run into that zone around the ‘D’ (Naysmith is made for the role)
Soon as Morell is match fit we will be fine…
    Playing a 4-1-4-1 has a nice balance between attack/defense

    Sluga
    Bree Pearson Bradley Potts
    Naysmith
    Cornick Kdh Morell Ince
    Collins
