When it comes to defenders getting injured, this season is starting to be in a league of its own.

So far, for various games, this season we’ve witnessed Reece Burke, Tom Lockyer and Sonny Bradley spend spells on the side-lines, after picking up various knocks and now, courtesy of Luton Today we learn that the new gaffer, Rob Edwards, will have to make do without the dependable, adaptable, Dan Potts.

It seems that Potts, in the recent away fixture against Blackpool, on 5th November, landed awkwardly and fractured his back, with the defender remarking:

“Not the news I wanted or expected but turns out I fractured my back away at Blackpool.

“Thankfully the winter break gives me a bit more time to recover and hopefully I’ll be back out there to help the boys and new manager as soon as possible.”

It’s getting to the stage where, perhaps, we should consider wrapping our defenders in cotton wool and it certainly emphasises the need to bring in a reinforcement, Michael Hector anyone?

I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Dan a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him out on the pitch again.
