Luton – Written Off Already

It has been a busy week on the transfer front, down at Kenilworth Road.

We’ve welcomed three new players to the club, Alfie Doughty, Cauley Woodrow and Matt Macey while also saying goodbye to two other, Danny Hylton and Peter Kioso.

In my opinion, our transfer dealings are going well, I believe the squad has been strengthened and I’m optimistic about the coming season, believing we can improve on the 6th place finish of last season.

However, the Sky Sports pundit, Lee Hendrie, doesn’t share that opinion, with the local media source, Luton Today, publishing the following quotes from the former Aston Villa midfielder:

“Luton, I do feel it’s a football club that had their chance.

“I think Jones had some fantastic players there, again it’s all about recruitment.

“I think he will do another super job, I don’t think he’ll be in the top six this time around though.”

Thinking back to last season, I didn’t think we’d finish in the top six and anyone who thought we would I reckon might have overdosed on the pre-season optimism juice.

But football is, as the late Jimmy Greaves often said, “a funny old game” and if I were Nathan Jones I’d paste those quotes on the dressing room wall as motivation, because come May 2023, after what I believe will be a successful season, I’ll certainly be reminding Lee Hendrie exactly what he predicted!

Sorry to rain on the parade. But I agree with hendry. I forecast between 10th an 13th. I just feel last seasons exertion may cost us. But we will go again next season.

Hi all, I think it’s going to be hard to have a season like lasts be who knows. But to have teams like Luton fighting for the top six is great we don’t want this league to be like the Premiership when you can name the top six every year almost . Coyh

he’s only doing his job. we all hope for a high finish, but you never know what will happen. thats why we suffer every year whatever happens, and come back for more. do you ever question your sanity some times, i know i do. let the madness begin. COYH.

All I know is it is the longest ‘short’ off season in history (or feels like it)! Missing my weekly fix of the Hatters rollercoaster. In my gut I feel we will struggle to reach 6th again this season, my heart disagrees… So let’s wait and see and enjoy!

Mid table will be fine….end of the day Hendry never had a good word for us in his ( expert analysis) when covering our games….just another ex player getting paid for talking waffle

Nathan Jones has improved us each season, I see no reason why we can’t match last year or even improve as he has the boards backing to support with recruitment. Naismith was a super player for us but only average when he 1st got a regular place in the side and consistently improved ,credit to Jones and back room staff
