Luton – Who Would You Select Against Wycombe (a)

As far as the 2020 / 2021 season goes, the Hatters are at something of a crossroads.

After hitting the 50-point mark, our form has dipped with the club suffering two consecutive defeats over the Easter period, against Barnsley (h) and Derby County (a).

Any hopes of a top-10 finish are fast diminishing but there is still a lot to play for.

Nathan Jones, in his post-match interview following those two defeats and as reported by Vital Luton Town – nathan-jones-to-sort-the-wheat-from-the-chaff – was honest enough to admit that some of those selected failed to do themselves justice.

Which brings me nicely back to the crossroads comparison.

With 50-points on the board, although the Hatters are not mathematically safe from relegation, it would take a dramatic series of results to see Luton Town tumble through the relegation trap door.

Nathan has, in our aforementioned article, indicated that he will play his strongest side against Wycombe Wanderers in the fixture this Saturday, a ploy that some believe is essential to push us onto the 53-point mark.

But with decisions to be made on who stays at the club and who is moved on this summer, as Nathan seeks to adjust the squad to continue our progression, could we see one of our promising youngsters given a chance.

Now, this is where you come in.

If you were in charge, this Saturday, who would make your starting XI?

Please feel free to drop your starting XI into the comment facility beneath this article and we will see if anyone matches the XI selected by the gaffer.

morning all, i think we’ll see Collins & Cornick start up front with Bradley partnering Naismith at CH. Adebayo, Nombe & Rea all benched.

    I would go with
    Sluga
Pearson Naismith Bradley Potts if fit or Cranie
    Morrell Tunnicliffe, Dewsbury-Hall, Mpanzu
    Collins, Adebayo.

    I would completely discard Nombe.

  • Danny says:

Saturday will be the normal physical game with Wycombe so i’d be surprised if we see Morrell suddenly re-appear from hibernation for this type of game.

    I would go with Sluga,
    Naismith, Bradley, Potts,
    Morrell , Tunnicliffe, Cornick, Moncur
    Collins, Adebayo, Lua Lua
So rest KDH and Pelly not even as subs.

  • Kev says:

I would go with the exact same team as Alan there. You are right it is far to attacking for NJ so it won’t happen but I think it should. Wycombe are there for the taking so let’s be brave and go at them from the start.

Hi all, interesting your teams an thoughts an njs plans. Personally it seems to me that whatever team starts even nj or any fan has got a clue what that team is going to perform like!!!! So whatever team is picked all the management an fans can do is pray to God for a result as we are impossible to predict at the moment 🤔🤔🙄🙄😭😭😁😁

  • Tim Hayden says:

    Sluga
    Bree, Pearson, Bradley, Naismith
    Cornick, Hall, Berry, Clark
    Collins, Adebayo

  • Adam says:

Collins scores one goal and everyone thinks he should play ?Never been a championship forward
Pearson will get murdered by the physicality of Wycombe
As usual everyone wants to drop Pelly but he essential for his workload, if appears he makes more mistakes than others as he is involved twice as much
Would like Moncur to stay but doubt he will
I would drive Lua Lua and Collins to wherever they would like to go

    • Alan says:

I’m one of pellys biggest fans, but I only left him out to give a rest and give his biggest critics somebody else to moan about..

      • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan, like I’ve said don’t matter who plays. It’s who bothers to turn up for the game. At the moment lol

  • Alan says:

Agree chris, I was just replying to Adams comment about pell being dropped….
Just want a good performance sat with a decent win…

  • Scotty says:

Take a punt on Pereira. I saw better football from Luton teams in Division 4 in the 60’s than last Saturday’s woeful display.

  • BOB JACKSON says:

There are certainly going to be some departures at the end of the season and certainly MK can have their boy back.
DH should move on as should Lua Lua. Collins to hopefully stay as his worth was shown as he rifled in our only goal against Barnsley.
For me KDH has been our stand out player of the season and if he doesn’t stay with us for another loan period I don’t see anyone to step into his boots.
The Morrell situation is intriguing as he is without doubt a good player but certainly appears not to be up that high up on NJ’s selection list.
Somebody earlier inferred maybe ‘something going on behind the scenes’ re that situation.

Hoping we can cap a good season on a high and to see an even better Town next season
