They say Easter is the time when dreams of landing a play-off place are realised, with clubs playing two games in four days.

Well, with half the Championship Easter programme having been completed, it’s fair to say that the Hatters could not have fared better.

Indeed, if you look at the top eight in the Championship table, Luton Town were the only side to win.

Starting from the top:

Fulham, who would have been promoted if they won, were beaten 2-1 by a Derby County side who came back from being a goal down.

AFC Bournemouth, looking to cement that second automatic promotion place behind Fulham, were held to a boring 0-0 draw at home to Middlesbrough.

Huddersfield Town twice led Queens Park Rangers but had to be satisfied with a 2-2 thanks to Queens Park Rangers desire to take something from the game.

Luton Town, as we all know, beat Nottingham Forest with, as a result, Luton taking 4th place in the table and forest dropping to 5th.

Sheffield United, taking on Reading, were beaten 2-1 courtesy of a late goal.

Middlesbrough, as covered earlier in the text, drew 0-0 away to Bournemouth.

Finally, eighth place Blackburn Rovers were beaten by Peterborough, at London Road, 2-1, proving Luton’s 1-1 recent draw there might not have been as bad a result as we originally thought.

But can Luton’s good fortune continue in the next round of fixtures scheduled for Easter Monday when the following fixtures will be of particular interest?

• Middlesbrough v Huddersfield Town
• Blackburn Rovers v Stoke City
• Cardiff City v Luton Town
• Coventry City v Bournemouth
• Bristol City v Sheffield United
• Nottingham Forest v West Bromwich Albion
