This afternoon Luton Town will take on Sunderland, in League One, in front of a capacity crowd.

The attendance will be boosted by over 1000 Sunderland supporters who will be making the journey south

It will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2007 when the Hatters beat Sunderland 3-0, in a League Cup tie.

Ahead of the game, we’re taking a quick look at the squads with regards to who is available and who isn’t.

Starting with Luton Town:

Nathan Jones will be able to call upon the services of Danny Hylton with the striker having completed his suspension by missing the opening day fixture against Portsmouth.

The Hatters long-term injury victim, Luke Berry, is closing in on a return after breaking his ankle and leg last season.

Jack Stacey, who was the subject of transfer speculation as the summer window closed, remains with the Hatters and could feature this afternoon.

Continuing with Sunderland:

Their manager, Jack Ross, who saw his side win their opening day fixture 2-1, against Charlton Athletic, will be without several key players courtesy of injury with Jerome Sinclair, Donald Love, Aiden McGeady, Duncan Whatmore, Charlie Wyke, Tom Flanagan and Ethan Robson all missing.

Taking a quick look at the statistics relating to the fixture shows a disturbing trend with Luton losing 7 out of the last 8 meetings between the clubs. Let’s hope for a change in fortunes this afternoon.
