Luton Town v Stoke City – Five Facts To Ponder Over

|

But what facts have we uncovered?

With the home fixture against Stoke City foremost in our minds and the chance for the Hatters to grab three more points as they seek to climb out of the Championship bottom three, we thought we’d browse through the record and history books and come up with a few interesting facts and figures.

Firstly, the Hatters form has improved so much in recent times that the side have accumulated 9 points from their last 4 league games whereby the previous 19 had seen Luton accumulate just 10, quite an improvement.

Secondly, if the Hatters can get a much-needed win against Stoke they will have won 3 consecutive home league games in the top two tiers of English football since 1996, some 24 years!

Thirdly, Luton’s recent record against Stoke doesn’t make for good reading, the last 14 games have seen Luton lose 10, draw 2 and win just 2, time to improve that particular statistic you might say.

Fourthly, the last time Stoke visited Kenilworth Road we witnessed an epic encounter, the game, an EFL 2nd round fixture, ended 1-1 but Stoke went on to win 8-7 on penalties.

Fifthly, Luton’s hopes of a win could be boosted by the fact that our visitors have lost 7 of their last 10 away games and haven’t on any of their last 3.
