Luton Town – Time To Mix It Up Rob

Friday night, when West Bromwich Albion visit Kenilworth Road, could be a pivotal moment in our season.

Languishing in the bottom three, the relegation zone, the Hatters desperately need to start picking up points.

What we all hoped would be another promotion celebrating season is fast becoming one in which relegation avoidance could be our primary concern.

Apart from the recent game against Watford, there have not been many games in which we’ve played well, in fact, in the majority of games this season, we’ve looked dire, miles away from being considered as being potential promotion challengers.

Naturally, it could be pointed out that we’re in the midst of an injury crisis, especially when it comes to centre-backs.

But what continues to puzzle me, and numerous others, is Rob Edwards reluctance to mix things up, the gaffer doesn’t seem to have a viable Plan B!

A recent poll of ours, asked the simple question:

Should Joe Taylor Be Given More Game Time?

The result, with just two options to choose from, was emphatic with 96% going for the YES option and only 4% going for the NO option.

So, how about it gaffer, mix things up this Friday and give Joe a start, and while you are at it, perhaps switch to a back four might also be considered!

I would expect to see Joe Johnson start at the back with diaka on Friday maybe Strauss at wingback put marv in for him in midfield play Morris and Taylor up front ?

    • Graham says:

      Eli = 2 games, 2 goals.
Maybe he can run faster if everybody gets off his back.

      • Chris winter says:

Yes but so has Morris and I just feel they are more suited as Morris and Woodrow used to be. It has nothing to do with goalscoring ability but what is good for the team something rob cannot see !!!!!

  • Mark Heneghan says:

Chris. I agree. We have become too predictable up front. Lump it up to Eli or Carlton. It has been ineffective. Play Taylor with either Eli or Carlton. At least we can then vary the play. We can lump up front,Taylor can play up on the last man and can feed off knock downs from Eli or Carlton. Midfielders also have more options

    • Chris winter says:

That will only happen if Edwards gets off his high horse and puts the club first and his feelings behind him after the preseason row he had with Taylor or his agent and that seems unlikely !!!

  • Alan says:

Still the old adage, no one is bigger than the club. There has been a few players over the years giving it big time, what’s the difference with taylor…..just saying.

    • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan we don’t know what the row was admitted but unlike morrel I haven’t heard he’s been poor in his attitude towards training or not trying if that’s the case then surely he deserves a chance?

  • Matt Hills says:

Hardly comforting to know that we have 8 defensive options unavailable, including Lockyer admittedly !!

That’s the area for debate this Friday, if Edwards sticks with a back 5 that would have to include Johnson & Pelly I suspect. Perhaps an enforced tactical change of a flat back 4 will be needed ;- Moses, McGuinness, Hashioka & Johnson are about all we can muster
