It did not take long last night, at Elland Road, to realise that the Hatters wouldn’t be coming back from Elland Road with any points.
At times, the old expression ‘men-against-boys’ sprung to mind with, for the majority of the game, our hosts being the far superior side.
After beating Hull City, at the weekend, the pressure had eased on Rob Edwards and I’m pretty certain, deep-down, the Hatters hierachy may have been prepared for the result last night, against a team that will, in my opinion, be promoted to the Premier League this season.
Facing the media, the gaffer had a lot to say about what we’d just witnessed, remarking to and as reported by the BBC,
“We pressed at the wrong times and that opened up too many spaces in that first 20 minutes where we needed to make better decisions.”
“We wanted to be aggressive, we wanted to press, that’s always the message, but we have to do it at the right moment with the right people.”
If we were ever going to get anything from the game last night, it was essential we kept it tight early on, but we never really got a grip of things in those vital early stages did we?
Continuing, Rob added:
“Away from home we’re finding that balance in being aggressive and not opening up spaces behind something we’re really searching for. It’s difficult at the moment.”
It is and, to be honest, I can’t see it getting much better unless we invest in the January transfer window, but will we get the right calibre of players?
Continuing further, Rob added:
“The fight’s there, but it’s poor decision-making and then big mistakes that we’re getting punished for and that’s been the case for a long time.”
A tale of two traits, decision making is something, I believe, can be taught on the training ground, mistakes are, surely, down to the individual!
The next game, Norwich City (a), will, once again, test our faltering credentials, anyone brave enough out there who cares to predict the outcome?

expect most people will be thinking how many goals we will concede. hoping for a miracle to happen. COYH.
That 25,000 seater stadium looks increasingly like a very sad bit of hubris. I was once in a 27000 crowd at Kenilworth Rd for a cup tie v Arsenal (lost 1-0) in the 60’s but those days are long gone. Even an excellent Town team would struggle to fill it now and one dreads to imagine how many will want to watch a team playing this kind of stuff in the lower lower divisions .
