Luton Town – The Sunshine Month Of August

The month of August is with us and the merry-go-round that is the football season has blessed us with four fixtures this month, to get the season started.

Looking at the four games it is interesting to note the variation in kick-off times:

• Monday 12-August – Burnley (h) – 2000 hours
• Saturday 17-August – Portsmouth (a) – 1230 hours
• Saturday 24-August – Preston North End (a) – 1500 hours
• Friday 30-August – Queens Park Rangers (h) – 2000 hours

with only one, Preston North End, kicking off at the traditional 1500 hours on a Saturday.

The other three, courtesy of Sky Sports TV live coverage are scheduled to kick-off at times that are more favourable to the armchair viewer, as opposed to the genuine match goer.

I have deep sympathy for the Burnley support that will be travelling south to watch the game live, no doubt the armchair fans will be fast asleep before those Burnley fans are even in sight of their Lancashire town.

I don’t imagine it will much of a picnic for the Hatters fans getting up early to venture down to the south coast for the Portsmouth game either, there’ll be some bleary eyed supporters in vehicles / trains heading south.

But, no doubt, it is a sign of things to come with Sky Sports promising to cover live even more EFL Championship games than ever this season.

However, despite the bulk of this article looking like a moan-fest, it is not its true intent.

As the editor, I’m simply intrigued to discover how many points Luton Town will accumulate out of the 12 available.

Morning MH, so I see we are being linked with a Cardiff centre half. My info is we are chasing a premier player as well currently at one of our former relegation opposition who is surplus. Also it’s claimed that Huddersfield are closing on Taylor whilst we are supposed to be after a forward this is really frustrating me personally I think Taylor should be in our squad this year and used as an impact sub if he’s going to make it here now is the time to test him.

    • Chris winter says:

Yes Jimbo, we all know managers of our club and owners have little or no confidence in youngsters buy cheap sell cheap is our way now. That’s not something we would have seen in pleat and others days . Shame it’s gone this way.
