Luton Town – The Magic Of The FA Cup

It is almost that time of the year again, a time when the magic of the FA Cup 3rd round draw takes centre stage.

Well it used to be like that, I can remember gathering around a portable radio, at work, eager to see how the draw panned out, keen to see who the Hatters drew.

These days, the FA Cup doesn’t seem to havve the same appeal, top clubs use the competition to field sub-standard teams and replays areseen as been totally irrelevant.

But, while it’s brightness may have waned, it still holds a special place in my heart, I still yearn to see, having not been born in 1959, to see Luton Town participate in an FA Cup Final.

Sadly with, on the playing side, the Hatters being on a downward spiral, I can’t see it happening in my life time, but, then again, you just never know.

However, with the EFL Championship, seemingly, taking priority, I wonder how seriously the FA Cup will be taken this season.

Personally, I’d like to see the club give it full priority, play the best XI available and use the competition as a confidence booster.

You just never know, if we get a team from a lower league, we could get nearer to a Wembley Final than we ever dreamed to be possible, but, the way we’ve been playing in recent weeks, we could find ourselves on the end of a giant-killing act.

But that’s the magic of the FA Cup is it not?

For those interested, the draw will take place on Monday evening, between 1900 and 1930, although the ball numbers are yet to be revealed.
