Gone are the days when a steady stream of players progressed through the youth system and into the first team.
The reasons why, I’ll leave for you to debate.
However it is great to see young Joe Johnson somewhat buck the trend and begin to make great strides as his progress continues with the latest reward being a call-up for the England U18 side.
Perhaps, Joe can follow in the footsteps of James Justin and become a star.
These days, when it comes to youth, the Hatters tend to rely on spotting talent that might be available on the open market.
Reports have filtered through that the latest piece of young talent to be given a chance to impress is James Cameron.
Cameron, a Canadian on the books of Vancouver FC, is 18-years-of-age and is a full back, according to Luton Today, young James is set to have trials with several other Premier League teams as he seeks to take the next giant step in his career.
One would hope that if James can do the business, during his time with the Hatters, then Luton Town would do their utmost to eliminate any chance of him being snapped up by another club.
Here at Vital Luton Town, we’ll do our utmost to keep an eye on the situation and report back as deemed necessary.
