Drifting away from Kenilworth Road, walking down through Bury Park, the buzz that had been in the air, recently, was somewhat subdued.
The support, who arrived in droves, smiling at just how much progress the Hatters have made recently, were striding fervently, keen to get home, somewhat grim-faced.
But, if the result taught us anything yesterday, losing 3-1 at home to the bottom club, Sheffield United, it is that this wonderful sport of ours still has that inexpiable air of unpredictability.
A game where, when it comes to results, nothing should ever be taken for granted.
Walking through my front door and after greeting the family, I couldn’t wait to view the social media comments left by the supporters, surprisingly, they were more upbeat than I thought they would be.
The first post I’ve chosen to use, illustrates the point perfectly:
Those of us that have been here more than 3 years saw this possibility happening. So luton’y to be in cracking form against teams way above us and then play awfully in one of the games people say we ‘should’ win
One of those, back again next week 🤷♂️

Doen’t it happen to every team, doesn’t every team come a cropper against a team the general populus believes they will beat?
However, going down a different route, does the following poster have a spot-on point:
Very poor today. Players looked out of ideas. We don't know what to do when we have more of the possession. Wilder done his homework on Luton, well done Sheffield.

A decent point, yesterday we had 75% of the possession but ended up being beaten whereas with as little as 41% we smashed Brighton and Hove Albion 4-0!
But, as the next post shows, should we just put it down as one of those days?
Total off day, been on a real good run, we bounce back next week 👒

It would, of course, be one way out!
However, the last post I’ve selected puts another perspective on the defeat altogether:
Better to lose to the team below us than the team's just above us. Sheffield was ALWAYS going to be difficult today due to last week's hammering. Great game to bounce back next week 🧡

I couldn’t have put it better myself!
COYH
