Luton Town – Premier League Striker Linked With Hatters Move

It is, in my view, essential that Luton Town make good use of the loan system this coming season.

Last season we were fortunate to benefit from having Albert Sambi Lokonga and Issa Kabore on loan and already speculation is mounting as to who might be coming to Kenilworth Road, on similar conditions, this summer.

Yesterday (Friday) several news sources, including The Deck ran articles that implied Luton Town were among clubs interested in signing the 19-year-old Tottenham Hotspur forward, Jamie Donley, on a season long loan deal.

Donley broke into the Tottenham Hotspur first team last season, making four appearances for the North London club and the belief is that a season, on loan, away from Tottenham with regular first team football would benefit his career greatly.

However, would it make sense for the Hatters to pursue such a move.

Providing Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo stay with the club, and I see no reason why either would leave, would Donley get the first team exposure he craves?

Also, if Donley were to be signed by Luton Town, what would it tell us about the futures of both Joe Taylor and John McAtee, both of whom will be looking to break into Rob Edwards match day squad this coming season.

Personally, I’d be surprised if this deal were to go ahead, unless there is something in the pipeline that could see Adebayo leave!

Agree MH. I think Donley is yet another name thrown up by these websites that thrive on rumours. I’m sure Rob and Co will come up with a couple of surprises from beneath the radar. Maybe another “Ross Barkley” languishing somewhere in Europe 🙂
