Next Saturday, the Hatters play their tenth fixture of the 2024/2025 EFL Championship, but it is no ordinary game.
After such a poor start to the season, whereby the Hatters have accumulated just 8 points out of the 27 available, this tenth game is, I believe, the most crucial of the season so far.
Our opponents are none other than our local rivals Watford.
But to me it is a game that could, very well, shape our destiny.
Among the supporter base, pressure is building regarding the managerial tenure of Rob Edwards.
While defeats are always hard to bear, recent ones have been accompanied by what, to be kind, have been lacklustre performances.
A recent poll, held by this site, showed that the support were split when it comes to Edwards future – it-was-a-close-run-thing – could, if our neighbours win, the pressure become too much?
Looking at Watford, this season, the Hornets have fared far better than Luton Town, they sit in 6th place with twice as many points as the Hatters, 16 out of the 27 available and, currently, occupy the last of the promotion play-off places.
They have scored 14 goals this season, compared to Luton Town’s 8, but have also conceded 14, compared to Luton Town’s 15.
However, whilst their league position is better than ours, their current form is somewhat patchy, with 2 wins, 3 defeats and 1 loss in their last 6 games, exactly the same as Luton’s current form, could this be the ideal time to play them?
It is sure to be an atmospheric occassion, this Saturday, with the kick-off scheduled for 12:30, could this be the game that kick-starts our season or could it be one that sees, if we lose, changes in the managerial set-up?

Luton Town – Back From The Sick Bed
I think the performance have been poor. The players look like they don’t like the way Edwards has them set up and don’t want to play for him also players not playing in the right position as I’ve said in previous post the next 4 games will seal his fate in my opinion
I agree with Colin, but if Watford thump us I can’t see a way back for Edwards. He seems to lack imagination and has very blinkered views.
