The summer transfer window may well have slammed shut on Friday evening but it hasn’t brought a halt to the speculation.
One major member of the main stream media, The Sun, carries an article, this weekend, inferring that the Everton boss, Sean Dyche, is resigned to losing his star striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, in the next transfer window,
As a result, according to our referenced source, Dyche is lining up a move for one of strikers, none other than Elijah Adebayo.
Already, according to our quoted source, a price tag of somewhere in the £20 million is being mentioned for the striker we signed, for next to nothing, from Walsall.
In my opinion, such a figure would be hard to turn down but, if the deal is to go through in January, Adebayo will need to regain the form he is capable of, form that he displayed last season in the top flight of English football.
So far, this season, Adebayo, like his strike partner Carlton Morris, has looked a shadow of his best self, failing to score in five games, a pattern also mirrored by Morris.
This piece of speculation is something I’ll keep on the back-burner and revisit as January 2025 approaches.
But what are your initial thoughts?

Luton Town – The Thoughts Of Honest Rob – QPR (h)
I think it’s pretty clear so far he doesn’t wana be here but Like you say he will need to up his game 200% if he wants his big move wouldn’t get £20 atm never mind 20M
If anyone spends 20M on this player they must be mad. Totally inconsistent and wasteful of chances. I would get rid of him and Morris for whatever I could get.
Both of our strikers appear to be out of form and short on creativity at the moment . Having said that the supply lines from midfield aren’t good either . Rob has got a big rebuilding job on his hands to turn this around quickly .
On this showing I can’t see either Morris or Adebeyo attracting serious interest from any Premiership clubs .
MH What happened to my post. Or did you disagree with its contents???

I don’t delete posts, it is FREE SPEECH here!
Is it this one ———— Morning MH What a poor performance even our £10 million defender making mistakes.if Adebayo goes to Everton perhaps their coaches will show him to chip an onrushing goalkeeper? is Morris fully fit as he seems unable to beat many central defenders when attempting to head on our own goal kicks?. We really needed to sign another striker with the large sum of parachute money we had available instead we buy two more mid fielders who are not even available to play?? With regard to our two back up strikers one cannot even score from penalties and the other a lightweight who is easily knocked of the ball. May be one for the future but we needed someone NOW,
Many supporters are asking where has the money really gone and was it value for money??

we paid circa 350k for Eli and Walsall have the normal add-ons, let’s hope this bizarre bit of transfer speculation gets him firing again
thanks for the info 🙂
I think if £20m is offered then it’s time to cash in.
If £20m is offered then it’s time to send the men in white coats into the Everton board room. Rob Edwards said he owns what’s happened and he’ll sort it. Over to you Rob if you do mate fair play.
Ive been saying since last season we need 2 out and out goal scorers lack of them cost us staying up and will now get us relegated midfield and defence been boosted they just need to get to know each others play and adapt
Wouldn’t get 200k for him at the moment
No way is he worth £20m even when he was on top form
Perhaps we could throw Morris in the deal too and sort another partnership out as both look uninterested at present and if they don’t start scoring soon we will start being left adrift at or towards the bottom
Our strikers lack confidence and have rushed chances they would have buried not so long ago.
Loads of corners and free kicks that we should be making the most of. Instead – up trots Doherty (is anyone else capable?) and the ball in is becoming too predictable, whilst our awaiting strikers (and tall defenders) get in one another’s way
Confidence will return and better dead ball tactics can be taught so I remain optimistic that we will start to climb the table.
As for Adebayo and is he worth 20 million? Well in my book when he is on song (Brighton and the play off final) he worth much more than the Everton striker he’d replace, and I guess Everton will be asking 2 or 3 times that much for him.
Article in the Sun aye, well we all believe that don’t we????? Dyche probably won’t be there in January anyway……adebayo always goes through a barren spell ( as do most strikers ) it will come and all the doubters will stop whingeing again. Its time to all get behind them and stop slagging and pretending to be managers….
Reminds me of when Sheehan ambled about taking left wing corners, right wing corners, free kicks in their half, free kicks in our half, goal kicks, kick offs and probably tossed up at the start. Doughty can deliver a good ball but so should other professional footballers be able to as well to mix it up a bit
Cash in there is not alot that Inspires me with the form of both morris and Adebayo very poor form at the moment..cantcsee it changing. Hope I’m very wrong….the big man in Eli ,he doesn’t seem to be aggressive enough and very average in the air with his heading ability…timecto cash in ..but wish him and morris all the best for the future…at Luton or new club
I blame the set piece coach, 48 corners this season and not one short corner, just lob the ball into a compact area and hope the big boys get something on it.
The free kicks outside the box are the same, ball to far post for Morris to run onto.
The set piece coaching is predictable, we don’t vary our corners, every manager know what we are going to do.
The team are obviously under instruction to only take long corners, we are one dimensional and predictable.
No Plan B
So with Watson now gone perairra on loan again an prebble on loan again. And these two unlikely to make the grade as well .only Adi has ever made the step up is anybody convinced of the recruitment team policy of buying one for the future or like me convinced we have wasted millions on it and should concentrate on proven performance first and concentrating on giving youth more chances and stop selling them abroad and bigging them up and releasing them !!!
chris, until we get the academy sorted, young players will go to teams that play against better opposition. i have mentioned once or twice about young players getting a chance, and it seems to slowly be happening. fingers crossed. COYH.
